What to Expect As A First Time Gym Goer

Gymming for the first time can be intimidating, and many people might feel unsure of what to expect and how to prepare. In order to make the most of your gym routine, there are a few tips and tricks to keep in mind as a first-time gym goer. Here at The Blueprint LA we’re all about “checking our egos at the door.” Everyone is family. Everyone is welcome.

 When heading into BPLA for the first time.  it’s important to determine what your goals are. Are you looking to stay fit, lose weight or build muscle? If you’re having trouble identifying what your 30-60-90 day goals are make sure to set up your initial goal setting session as early as you can! We’d also love to sit down with you during your trial and talk things through. Your 30-60-90 day goals will determine how you plan your routine and which classes you will focus on. Doing some research beforehand will help you familiarize yourself with the different types of training and the classes we offer.  Once you’ve identified your objectives, try to build a routine that’s manageable for you. Start slowly and work up to more intense workouts. This will ensure that you can stay consistent and help prevent injuries. It’s also important to get proper rest between workouts so that your muscles have time to heal and you’re able to perform at your best.

To ensure you stay on track, the benefits of group fitness classes are invaluable. Our double trained coaches can help provide additional guidance and focus, and the class setting allows you to meet people with similar goals. The classes also give you an opportunity to ask questions, gain knowledge, and try out new skills. 

Finally, it’s important to break a sweat! Remember to bring a water bottle and a towel because all BPLA classes will leave you dripping! Keep in mind that everyone’s experience and goals are different, so be patient and never compare yourself to others in the gym. With the right attitude, motivation and some effective planning, you can successfully reach and exceed your goals.
