Benefits of Strength Training for Women

Here at The Blueprint LA we know the importance of physical fitness for everyone cannot be overstated. We also know women, however, have unique needs and considerations when it comes to physical fitness, and a focus on strength training has become increasingly important in recent years. Strength training provides numerous mental and physical benefits for women, and the research suggests that these benefits are only growing. 

For starters, strength training can have a significant impact on self-confidence and body image. At BPLA we take a holistic approach and want all members to build their minds, bodies and spirits. We know that the fitness space can be an intimidating space to be in so we do all that we can to flip the script on that.

A study published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research found that women participating in a strength-training program experienced improved self-confidence, including overall feelings of strength, increased energy, and improved body image. At BPLA we know that much of the information out there tends to be geared towards women and weight loss. Popular Google searches such as “how do I lose weight?” “I need to lose weight” “I want to lose 5 pounds” “how many calories should I eat to lose weight” can make it hard for women to know exactly what they should be shooting for when looking to start a strength program. Here at BPLA we are all about getting stronger! Through our intentionally designed strength program we utilize hypertrophy and strength training to give our members the best chance at meeting their goals. 

Strengthening the major muscles of the body can also have a positive effect on body positioning and posture. Poor posture often leads to physical pain and fatigue, making it difficult to get through the day feeling energized and refreshed. Considering that many have sedentary jobs we want to allow for a variety of movement patterns to be introduced to women.
